EVERY
LIFE HAS A PURPOSE
Founded
in 1978, the Archdiocese of the Southwest is an independent
Anglo-Catholic jurisdiction now functioning primarily as a
mission-oriented personal prelature. It continues the Anglo-Catholic
tradition of the Christian Faith in Apostolic Succession. We promote
the sacraments, under the modified Sarum Use and Anglican Tradition,
and the adoration of Jesus Christ, Our Lord, and His Most Holy
Mother, the Virgin Mary as the time-honored means of attaining unity
with Almighty God and with all Christians of the world.
THE
TOP PRIORITY OF THE ARCHDIOCESE IS
LOCAL
AND INTERNATIONAL MISSION WORK
Because
of our role as a mission-based personal prelature, we do not focus
on maintaining a territorial roll of parishes. We work worldwide and
establish chapels, even if temporarily, wherever we go to spread the
Word of God and the message of Christ.
The
Archdiocese is in sympathy with the Holy Catholic Church of Rome,
and supports the Holy Father, Benedict XVI. We
continue the unbroken succession of the Apostles, starting with our
Lord Jesus Christ, through His servant, St. Peter, Prince of the
Apostles, and his See at Rome, to the Present.
