Solemn Baptism First Sacramental Act of New Priest

The joy of a new child entering the flock of our Lord Jesus Christ was felt recently in the Archdiocese as Seth Deffenbaugh, son of newly-ordained Father Douglas Deffenbaugh, was baptized. The solemn rite of baptism begins with a preparatory rite and blessing of the water, during which time the infant is anointed with the Oil of the Catechumens at the front and back of the neck. Then young Seth was baptized with water and anointed with Holy Chrism on the forehead. Archbishop Johnson was present as Godfather, and the font used was the font from which the Archbishop was baptized as a child. Father Deffenbaugh had just been ordained a priest, and his first act as priest after his ordination mass was to baptize his son.
