The Metropolitan Chapter of the Archdiocese of the Southwest consists of Canons and Chaplains, Deans, and the Archdeacon. Appointment is made by the Metropolitan. The Chapter includes the Deans and Archdeacon. The purpose of the Chapter is to advise the Archbishop and carry out various Archdiocesan functions as needed. The unique choir dress of the Metropolitan Chapter is worn in the Cathedral, when the Chapter appears corporately, and when attending or directly representing the Metropolitan. It consists of a purple cassock, over which is worn directly a purple chimere and a red mozzetta with a red bow closure at the neck. The biretta is black with a purple or red pom-pom. The red bow and red mozzetta are in honor of St. Stephen the Protomartyr, Patron Saint of the Metropolitan See.
